Russell Maiorana

Russell Maiorana’s life is an incredible journey of distinct experiences, inventions, and entrepreneurship. Born and brought up on Long Island, New York, he graduated from Farmingdale High School in 1971. His early years were filled with exploration, including cruising on his beloved Harley Davidson Chopper, named Sundown.

In 1975, Russell embarked on a solo journey from Long Island to Saint Augustine, Florida. While traveling on I-95 in South Carolina at 75 mph, disaster struck: his chopper’s chain snapped, locking the back wheel and sending him skidding across the road. As he slid under a massive 18-wheeler, Russell feared for his life. Miraculously, his bike’s highway pegs caught in a road crack, propelling him out from under the truck, saving him just in time. After the close call, he called his father, who drove down from New York to bring him home.

Russell’s professional journey began in printing, working at Jamar Printing and later as a master printer at Fairchild Republic. In 1976, he made waves in the smoking world by inventing a combination cane pipe and pool stick, allowing users to “Toke, Stroke & Smoke in Style.” This invention brought him unexpected fame and caught the attention of celebrities. His appearances on The Johnny Carson Show in 1981 and 1982 cemented his place in pop culture.

In 1985, he founded Memories On Video, later rebranded as VideoGuy.com. He covered events like weddings and bar mitzvahs. His entrepreneurial spirit took him into digital real estate in 1997, where he invested in valuable domain names.

Russell’s life has been marked by paranormal experiences and UFO encounters since childhood. His 2024 book, “The Elegant Theory of Everything,” draws from a life-changing UFO encounter in 1977, offering an authentic, profound exploration of the universe’s mysteries.
